Land of contrasts & nature elements

Our top 5 reasons to Visit Iceland

Land of contrasts & nature elements

Fire and ice, wind and water, active volcanoes, majestic glaciers perfect for hiking and ice cave exploration, black lava beaches, moss-covered lava fields and turquoise blue hot springs. Some places don’t feel real, and Iceland is one of them. Nowhere else in Europe can you experience how alive the Earth is, and nowhere else can you feel the elements of nature so closely.

Fresh & creative Icelandic cuisine

Iceland’s food scene is a surprise. Icelandic chefs are proud of their fresh and local ingredients, such as lamb, fish, seafood and locally grown vegetables, and they love to blend them with international cooking styles and dishes. Those playful fusions create unique and truly memorable culinary experiences that take most travelers completely by surprise.

Vibrant Reykjavik

The most northern capital in Europe is also the smallest. With around 130.000 inhabitants, downtown Reykjavik is cozy, compact and walkable. The vibrant and peaceful city is bursting with a creative arts scene, museums, galleries,
colorful street art, concerts and festivals. There are plenty of cosy coffee houses and beautiful souvenir shops to explore.

Proud Nordic heritage

Icelanders hold a deep pride in our Nordic heritage, the beautiful nature and safe society. Close family ties are central to Icelandic life, and modern culture is intertwined with Norse mythology and local folklore, giving visitors a genuine taste of the modern Viking spirit. The peaceful country is a leader in gender equality and has a strong sense of community and honesty.

Hello elves

Have you ever dreamt of meeting an elf, for real? In Iceland, your dream can turn into reality. Iceland’s landscape doesn’t just look magical. It is also home to the Huldufólk, the hidden people. Elves, trolls and other nature beings are deeply tied to Icelandic culture and society. This connection between nature, the invisible and us humans adds a layer of mystery you can truly feel as you explore the country.

Iceland Essentials

A few practical things to help you prepare. The rest, we handle together.

Language

Icelanders speak excellent English, so getting around and communicating is never a problem. Icelandic is the official language, one of the oldest in the world and closely related to Old Norse.

Weather & Water

Iceland has cool summers (around 13°C / XX°F) and mild winters near freezing. Weather varies by region and season, and we’re happy to help you plan accordingly.
Tap water is some of the purest in the world.

Getting there

Iceland is well connected to Europe and North America, with Keflavik International Airport serving as the main gateway, located about 45 minutes from Reykjavik. Flight time from New York is around 6 hours, from London around 3 hours.

Safety

Iceland is one of the world’s safest countries, with low crime rates and no dangerous wildlife. Modern monitoring systems keep a close eye on volcanic activity and road conditions at all times.

How to pay

The local currency is the Icelandic króna (ISK). Card payment is widely accepted everywhere, from restaurants to remote gas stations. Iceland is one of the more expensive destinations in Europe, so it is worth planning your budget in advance.
